Luke 18:35-43
Mark 10:46-52
There are few phrases in Scripture that arrest your attention any quicker than this one in Mark 10:47, “Jesus of Nazareth” was passing by. Imagine what it must have meant to blind Bartimaeus as he sat by the roadside begging. He had probably heard of all the mercy and compassion, kindness and healing that Jesus had bestowed upon other blind men. Maybe he had even begun to have some hope that one day he might encounter Jesus. Then the day came when he heard that Jesus was passing right in front of him! As he screeched out at the top of his voice, Jesus stopped and asked him a question, which, on the surface, appears to be one of those “duh” moments of life.
